151: This Countdown May Be Wrong

I counted the days one day when I was drinking. I should do a recount one of these days.

No running today. It's okay though. I got this. I did eat at Wendys though. That's not good haha. I also tried their strawberry shake concoction. Not good. Very not good.

Thinking about my cat a lot. Hope she's okay.

Mets lose again in Washington. Can't win Em all.

152: MiB3

Finally got to see MiB3. My dear friend Lisa enjoyed it, but I couldn't stand it.

What happened to the fun sci-fi franchise I loved as a kid? Here's what I wrote to my buddy about it:

Not good. There were some scenes that didnt even make sense. Why were they showing people sitting on their couches drinking coffee watching the shuttle launch? Beyond the gag that all this tension is happening and these white people are oblivious to it I don't get it.

So, Tommy Lee Jones was sad this entire time because he had this secret from Will Smith that he didn't save his father's life? Now that that burdon is off his shoulders he listens to Jay-Z? I don't understand!

K and O are still not together? Like, what?

Also, Will Smith could have just waited atop the Chrysler Building and killed that guy as soon as he arrived in 1969. The End.

Unlike the 1st two movies where they end with a nice little mind fuck of how small this universe is they just end the movie in a boring fashion.

The out of time character is basically a walking-talking writers room. He's just throwing ideas out there waiting for one to stick.

The Mets stuff was great.

It just wasn't fun.

153: Things are Heating Up

Jogging 5k is getting easier and easier. Maybe it's because I have some great music or I'm still pumped from the Santana no-no buy I was flying.

I spent a lot of time thinking about this surgery I'm getting at the end of the month. I'm excited at the prospect of breathing better. I think it will help me running immensely. Even if it's a little bit it'll be worth it. As my doctor tells me my septum is deviated to the left in the front and to the right in the back. How do I not snore at night?

154: Catching the Space Shuttle

This shuttle didn't leave the earths atmosphere, but it's still a sight to behold. The large Bay Ridge crowd actually clapped as the shuttle passed under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.

Eye rolling aside it was a lot of fun to see the shuttle on a barge under the bridge That has been my constant through my life.

155:The Kids Are Alright

Babysat my nephews today. Babysitting on the weekend is a totally different animal than babysitting on weekdays. On the weekends they're allowed to watch tv and play on my phone. Thank god for that. "Playing" with them equates to me putting them upside down and chase the other one around the apartment. It's exhausting. I honestly don't know how parents do this all day every day.

This day was a bit different. All they wanted to do was play on my phone and watch the Penguins of Madagascar. Good show by the way. They ate dinner at the dinner table (chicken fingers) an were perfectly well behaved. If I were a parent I'd let my kids watch tv all the time. TV seems to calm them down. I grew up on television and I turned out okay. How bad could it really be? In fact, I'd say these kids need more tv in their lives. When the tv is on they act like zombies. They can only focus on the screen. It's borderline unhealthy. How can these two live in the real world when there are televisions on all the damn time? I'm a little concerned for them, but they're alright.

156: No-Han

The Mets have played 8,019 games without throwing a no-hitter. Tonight Johan Santana willed his way to the franchises first and I got to see it all from start to finish.

Originally the interest of this game was Carlos Beltrans first game back in Queens since being traded away last season. That narrative quickly changed. I've been aware of the Mets lack of a no hitter for quite some tile. I've watched in the stands as John Maine and Al Leiter flirted with the idea. Never coming within 3 outs of it. I resigned myself to the fact that the Mets would never throw a no-no. It was just part of our charm. That elusive dream forever beyond our reach.

It took Johan Santana 134 pitches to complete our first no-hitter. 134. That's am impossible number for a player coming off of shoulder surgery.

I always dreamed of this day and now that it's here I'm paralyzed. I have no idea how to act or feel. It is only one game. One W in a 162 game season but somehow it all feels different. We exercised a century old demon. We can do anything. This team can do anything.

It was a good day.

157: C.R.E.A.M

My intention when I woke up today wa to get a personal trainer after work. However when I got to work I found out our hours are getting cut one day every week during the summer. That's no good. I got them to cut it to one day every other week but still that's a lot of money to be losing. Just when I thought I was getting ahead and make some savings this goes and happens

Anyway, my dreams of a personal trainer are dashed for now. Not only that I'm pretty depressed about the whole thing. I haven't been in the mood to work out. The only thing I've. Even able to do is work on my resume.

158: Something, Something, Worried about my cat

Gave Clementine a laxative last night. Woke up this morning much like I did on Christmas mornings when I was a kid. Except I'm looking for poop instead of gifts. Sadly, no poop. But she was eating a bit. Either way, I went to work hoping upon my return if see an apartment full of poop.

When I got home there was a nugget of poop! It was glorious! She's eating like a champ now. I'll continue to give her the laxative with her food. I'm just happy she isn't dead. Fuck

159: Citifield

Went to the doctor today. I'm scheduled to have a deviated septum fixed. That shit is on! I'm pumped. My septum is leaning towards the left in the front and to the right in the back so it's like a fun house mirror in my face there. Looking forward to the surgery.

Tonight I went out to Citifield and just enjoyed the ballpark in a way I haven't been able to do before. I went right after work and just toured the entire place at my own pace. I found a Mr. Met hat I could live with and ate some wonderful fatty food.

I kinda love this shirt. It's ugly and amazon all at the same time
A few years ago NY had cows painted in different artistic ways all over the city. I think the Mets just got the memo and painted a pig in orange and blue.
Dwight The Great? That's the headline? Eh, either way I believe I owned that issue.
I miss the orange, blue, green and red seats of Shea Stadium. I especially miss that red. I lived up there as a kid.
My favorite Met. Olerud will never get the respect he deserves. Classy dude.
This is signed by Buckner! Fuckin great.
It got a little dusty in the Mets museum when I saw this plaque.
I owned this yearbook and used to leaf through it all the time.
I got to high 5 and fist bump Mr. Met today. It was a good day.
I kinda want a whole set of these and of the beer glasses, but then I'll never get a girlfriend.
I got the Keith burger with a little guacamole in there. There's a lot of flavor going on in there. The meat patty itself isn't great but everything around it makes up for it. I wish I could get the meat from Shake Shack on here.
They need to stick this signage in the front of the stadium. The useless "Let's Go Mets" in blue is silly and embarrassing.
 View from Shea Bridge
How great is this view rights here?
View from the Pepsi Porch. Kinda fun but also kinda rowdy.
This is a fun little beer that I would like to try again! It's lemony and honey flavored.
Me, all humid and sweaty looking
I aspire to look like this guy.

160: Hiking

Today I woke up crazy early and took Metro North to Tarrytown. My friend Lisa picked me up from there and we went for a nice long hike. And I mean LONG! It would up being 1000 ft above sea level and roughly 5 miles of vigorous hiking. I had a blast! It's great to feel different muscles working.

It was a hot day but the trees provided a good amount of shade. Just a wonderful wonderful day. I hope to keep that in my training. After hiking we showered and ate at this delightful little shack for some tasty burgers and fries. Great end to Memorial Day weekend.

I don't get to Grand Central Terminal that often and that's a real shame. It's a beaut. I'd like to do the audio tour one day after work with some beers.

Deer! Bambi was curious about the weirdo who kept waving at her (me)

This guy has a nuclear power plant in his back yard. Milk was a bad choice.

161: Cat Fever

Clementine wasn't herself today. She wasn't eating. She was barely moving and hell, she wasn't doing anything. I got scared. What if this wonderful little creature died today? What would I do? Would I go out back and dig a hole and bury her? Would I put her in a pet cemetery? Or would I just put her out with the trash? Seriously, what would you do?

State at that enigma for a moment. What is the best way to dispose of the body of an animal that's been in my home for a year? Is it so inhumane to just put her out with the trash? Is that disrespectful? I like to think I'd bring her to the vet and have her burned to a crisp. Except my dads wife did that to her dog and it rubbed me the wrong way. It became hilarious when their new dog got into the urn and threw the ashes all over the living room.

By the en of the day Clementine was pretty much back to herself. Bu days like today make me realize I have some hard decisions to make.

162: Wasted Morning

Woke up at 6:30 to jump on a train and wait in line for rush tickets to Once. That was a mistake. Didn't get tickets. Got home around 11 and finally had coffee around noon. This is my Saturday. What a waste.

The rest of the day was productive. Vacuumed, did laundry and generally cleaned up all because Aysha was coming over. I like having people over. They make me clean up and get my shit together. Aysha's first time at my apt was a success. She liked it and we watched Hall Pass and ate Chinese food. Nice little Saturday.

163: No Personal Trainer

Woke up and had
Y shredded wheat cereal and fed the kitty. Not in that order. She would have flipped out. At work I had my 2 cups of coffee. I love making coffee at work. It's the only way I can face the rest of the day. Brought some more aloo gobii to work but opted for a eggplant wrap from ilili restaurant from Madison Square Eats. It wasn't the best thing I've eaten there. They all can't be. We actually got out of work early and I just couldn't go inside a gym when it was so beautiful outside! I went home and jogged around the cemetery. Humid as all hell. I need a headband to block the sweat from going in my eyes. Super gross. I made a stop to say hello to my dead grandparents and finished the run strong with the incline.

164: Personal Trainer Time

Personal trainers cost 50 bucks a session. In June they go up 10 bucks a session. Since I'm a cheap bastard this is exactly the incentive I need to get a trainer.

Ideally I'd like to have 10 sessions but that's 500 bucks and I'm not made of money over here. 4 sessions should be fine for now. My main concern or fear is that I'm too weak for a trainer to actually do any work for me. It's a bullshit excuse.

This is happening. I'm expecting to look like Chris Evans in the Avengers. That's realistic, right?

166: All Indian All The Time

Breakfast: Aloo Ghobi
Lunch: Aloo Ghobi
Dinner Aloo Ghobi and chicken tikka Marsala

Do I have a problem? Nah, just have a lot of Aloo Ghobi around the apt. Plus my friend Elina never had Indian food. Can you imagine living 30 years and never having Indian food? Sounds troubling.

I also saw The Dictator for free. It was t terrible but wasn't great either. Kinda like Aloo Ghobi!

165: After Workout Sweat

Here's the deal: I go to the gym, change into workout clothes, workout, shower, dry off, change back into work clothes and as soon as I get to the train station I'm sweating just as hard as when I was working out!

What gives?

Is my body just so far in the red that it feels like super fly TNT? I tried taking cold showers and they don't work. Mostly because I get used to them after a short while. Should I go in the sauna? Does that help this process? How do I stop sweating like a jerk? I look like a mad man on the subway platform.

Anyway, had a stressful day at work. Ate a chipotle burrito with steak (mistake, going with carnitas or barbacoa next time) and brown rice. Breakfast was shredded Mimi wheats and soy milk. I need more soy milk. Tonight, dinners gonna be a shit show because Aysha wants to celebrate being doing with finals.

167: Rainy Day and Monday

Is there anything worse than rainy days? How about rainy days on Mondays? Yeah, that is worse. However, I'll take rainy weekdays and sunny weekends every time. Make that happen world.

I've been drinking a whole lot this weekend. Tonight I had 2 gin and tonics. I should pump the brakes on the drinking. I just feel like doing nothing on days like this. It's a good thing I didn't do anything tonight because I had to do a wash because my cat peed on my sheets. Seriously. That happened. Sigh.

Foods: Frosted mini wheat cereal from Trader Joes, leftover chicken stir fry from Friday, peanuts, chicken sticks from trader joes (Yes, I see tat I have a problem), 2 cups of coffee, gin, 2 string cheese sticks. I'm fat.

168: Indian Food is Back!

I haven't made indian food since I lived with a vein. What's the point, right? The fact is: I missed it. I missed all the spices and the aromas that happen when I cook indian food. Today is a good day.

No marathon training today. Although I walked a good 3 miles today going back and forth from the subway to my apt to the grocery store. I finally cooked Indian food in my new apartment. It's so good to be back in the swing of things!

I cooked the cauliflower before putting it in the dish which is something I hadn't done before. It paid off! Loved it and will keep making this dish.

169: Googa Mooga

So much food, you guys! Check it out:
